Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Davao Occidental, March 6, 2023
EARTHQUAKE DAVAO OCCIDENTAL – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.7 magnitude quake in Jose Abad Santos, Tuesday, March 6, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Occidental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.7.
The earthquake that struck Davao Occidental, Tuesday, March 6, 2023, at 11:53 p.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Jose Abad Santos.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.79°North, 126.05°East – 047 km South 74° East of Jose Abad Santos with a depth of focus of 149 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity was recorded of the said quake but there are instrumental intensities that were logged in some areas:

- Kiamba, Sarangani
- Malapatan, Sarangani
- General Santos City, South Cotabato
- Intensity II
- Tupi, South Cotabato
- Intensity III
- Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental
- Malungon, Sarangani
