LTO to Issue Show Cause Order vs Lalamove Rider Over Child Inside Delivery Box
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will issue a show cause order against a Lalamove rider after a child was caught inside the delivery box.
Renan Militante, the officer-in-charge of the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division, indicated that a show cause order will be issued to the Lalamove rider who went viral on social media. As the motorcycle was running, the rider was captured with a toddler inside the delivery box.
“Immediately mag-iissue tayo ng show cause order po doon sa rider, sa may-ari ng motor,” said Militante,

The LTO also looks to see if the rider has broken any laws, such as Republic Act No. 1066 or the Children’s Safety on Bikes Act of 2015. Militante claims that he is not following the correct specification for onboarding a child, which states that the youngster’s feet should be on the foot pegs of a motorcycle.
“Kung titingnan po natin, wala po siya sa tamang spesipikasyon ng pag-onboard ng isang bata, na dapat po ‘yung feet ng bata ay nasa foot peg ng isang motorcycle. Pangalawa, naka-helmet po dapat ang bata at pangatlo po, dapat nakayakap ‘yung bata sa nagmamaneho ng motorsiklo,” added the official.
A child’s hand can be seen removing the lid of the motorcycle’s delivery box in a cellphone video released by a concerned netizen on February 24. The video clip became viral, but the netizen erased it from his social media account after the rider in the video requested it.
The netizen stated that he released the video to encourage child safety. He further stated that the scenario is hazardous because the bag is insulated and lacks a bracket to keep it from falling.
