Nonito Donaire Sr. Describes Nonito Jr. ‘UNGRATEFUL SON’ Due to This Reason
Nonito Donaire Sr. has expressed his disappointment and called five-division boxing champion Nonito Donaire Jr. as “Ungrateful Son”.
When asked about the possibility of reconciling with his son, Nonito Donaire Sr. expressed disinterest in rebuilding their relationship. He even went on to remind Donaire Jr. that he was nobody before he became a boxing champion under his guidance.
“I can’t believe that you raised a kid and now that he has more money than his parents, can afford to raised his voice toward his father who molded him of what he is right now. I was talking about Nonito Jr. The UNGRATEFUL SON. He was a jobless man until he became a world champion.” Donaire Sr. said.
Despite his instrumental role in Donaire Jr.’s success, he claimed to have never been invited to his son’s victory parties.
“For 24 years I feed him but when he became a world champion he left me and not even telling me that he hired another trainer,” the boxing trainer said.
Donaire Jr. dismissed his father as his trainer in 2009, reunited in 2013, but split up again in 2016. Donaire Jr. had previously professed his love for his father, but had given up hope of changing his father’s mind.
Money, according to Rachel Donaire, the boxing champion’s wife, was one of the reasons that produced conflict between them and Donaire Sr.
Donaire, Nonito Gonzales Jr. Order of Lakandula is a professional Filipino-American boxer. He has held world titles in four weight classes ranging from flyweight to featherweight, and he is the oldest boxer in history to win a bantamweight world title, as well as the first three-time champion in that weight class.
