PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon would bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Thursday (February 23, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Luzon. Amihan will bring cloudy weather conditions with rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora.

“Patuloy pa rin ang pag-iral nitong northeast monsoon dito sa may bahagi ng Luzon at ito ay magdadala ng maulap na kalangitan na may pag-ulan,” weather specialist Patrick Del Mundo said.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. Similar weather condition is expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to amihan.

Del Mundo said that the Philippines can expect a generally fair weather condition in most parts of the country over the weekend. “Kaya naman inaasahan natin sa weekend ay magiging maaliwalas pa rin ang panahon sa malaking bahagi ng bansa,” he added.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, the eastern sections of Visayas, and Mindanao will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
