WORST DISHES – Filipinos react after Taste Atlas includes “Hotsilog” among the list of worst dishes in the world.
Garlic fried rice, fried eggs, and hot dogs make up the classic Filipino delicacy known as hotsilog. The hot dogs prepared in the Filipino manner are typically cut on the sides and are red and juicy. On a platter of garlic fried rice and sunny-side-up fried eggs, they are boiled, then cooked in oil.
Most Filipino people usually serve ‘hotsilog’ (hotdog, sinangag, itlog) as breakfast. Some people prepare condiments such as banana ketchup and some pickled shredded papaya locally known as ‘atchara’ on the side.
Hotsilog is considered one of the most popular dishes and comfort food of Filipinos especially during ‘petsa de peligro’ or rush hours.
Recently, the renowned travel guide site “Taste Atlas” named ‘hotsilog’ as one of the worst dishes in the world. The dish ranked at number 36 on the recently-released list while the Pinoy dish ‘Kinalas’ landed at number 17.
However, a lot of Filipino netizens have expressed their disagreement with the list and claimed that the meal is simple yet delicious.

TasteAtlas has already featured several Philippine cuisine for a couple of times. The site even hailed chicken inasal and sisig among the Best Dishes in the World way back in 2022.
