Unfortunately, Innocencio do not know how to cook and bursts into tears as she struggles on how to earn. She even asked for advice from her sister regarding the process of cooking dishes.

Wala akong alam sa pagluluto so I have to call my sister ‘Ate, paano ba pagluto ng monggo? Paano ba pagluto ng sinigang?’ As in from 5:30 a.m. nagluluto na ako, natatapos ako 11 a.m. I was crying that time kasi hindi naman talaga ako marunong magluto. I only have this money, P3,000, kailangang kumita kami, para mapaikot namin,” Innocencio said.

However, her dishes did not sit well with customers, and started to convert her ‘karinderya’ into a ‘silog’ business. Initially, she was just serving hotsilog and longsilog then add tapsilog to their menu.

Che’s new business becomes a success and add combos including luncheon meat, bangus, and shanghai on the menu. The couple named the store “Tatay Pepe’s Tapsilogan and eventually add branches.

I am actually very thankful to those people, kasi without them, wala talaga kami. So sabi nila ‘Bumbay, malas yan.’ No. I am very much thankful na nandiyan pala sila,” Che said.
