EARTHQUAKE TODAY – Here are the details of the 4.6 magnitude earthquake that rocked a part of Davao Oriental, January 23, 2023.

In the Philippines, the government agency that releases details about quakes that hit the different areas in the country is the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or more commonly called PHIVOLCS. Recently, it released details about the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Oriental today.

Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Davao Oriental, January 23, 2023

EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.7 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental today, Monday, January 23, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few days ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a different part of Davao Oriental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.7.

The earthquake that struck Davao Oriental today, January 23, 2023, at 06:49 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Tarragona.

Earthquake Just In

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Oriental was located at 06.49°North, 126.82°East – 074 km South 33° East of Tarragona with a depth of focus of 083 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. Based on the record released, no intensity was recorded of the said quake. The following instrumental intensities were recorded due to the said quake:

  • Intensity II
    • Nabunturan, Davao de Oro
  • Intensity I
    • Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental
    • Malapatan, Sarangani
