DORIS BIGORNIA – Netizens couldn’t help but react to Doris Bigornia’s onion-filled Bistek.
As the nation is experiencing an onion crisis due to the crops’ skyrocketing costs due to excessive demand, many Filipinos are posting jokes about how pricey onions are. Since the holidays, posts about onion packages, onions in money envelopes, and onion food prizes have been making the rounds on social media.
Onion prices in the Philippines are currently estimated to be between P300 and P700 per kilo.
Just recently, the Tweet of veteran journalist Doris Bigornia caught the attention of the netizens. She talked about her dinner that has plenty of sliced onions.
Doris shared a picture of a plate of Bistek Tagalog on Tuesday that was loaded with thinly sliced onions. In her tweet, she made fun of the quantity of onions, calling them a “luxury.”
“Kasusweldo lang kaya konting luxury,” she tweeted with laughing emojis.
