Many pageant fans were dismayed after Celeste Cortesi failed to get into the Top 16 of the Miss Universe 2022. Among the celebrities who reacted to it include Kim Chiu, Vice Ganda, Maja Salvador, and Gabbi Garcia.

The 25-year-old beauty queen was even selected as one of the top ten contestants, along with Indonesia, Colombia, and Mexico, by international pageant publications. Despite this, the Philippines has produced four Miss Universe winners in the 71-year history of the competition: Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margarita Moran in 1973, Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, and Catriona Gray in 2018.

Fil-Am R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States was later declared the winner of the prestigious pageant. She was born in Houston, Texas to American Dana Walker and Filipino-American Remigio Bonzon.

Despite this, Celeste Cortesi still won support from her fellow beauty queens and the Miss Universe Philippines organization. In a previous article, Miss Universe queens Catriona gray and Pia Wurtzbach penned a heartfelt message for the Fil-Italian beauty queen after the MU pageant.

Celeste Cortesi seemed to have gotten past her failure to win the Miss Universe 2022 crown after posting a message on social media about what appeared to be alluding to her “heartbreaking loss” in the pageant and her road toward self-recovery.

The Pinay model posted a quote from Canadian author Bianca Sparacino on finding happiness within oneself on Instagram for the first time since the coronation night. The quote states that happiness is “never about your job or your degree or being in a relationship.”

“Happiness was always about being kinder to yourself; it was always about embracing the person you were becoming. One day, you will understand that happiness was always about learning to live with yourself, that your happiness was never in the hands of others… it was always about you,” Sparacino’s post read, which Celeste posted on her IG Stories.
