Carabao Attacks Owner in Maguindanao del Sur, Farmer Gets Hospitalized

A poor farmer suffered wounds and serious injuries after he was attacked by his own carabao in Maguindanao del Sur.

Carabao is a domestic swamp-type water buffalo native to the Philippines. Carabaos have the low, wide, and heavy build of draught animals, which varies in color from light grey to slate grey. They are well adapted to a hot and humid climate.

A lot of Filipino farmers are having buffalos for their farm work. While some are having carabaos for buy and selling purposes. However, some people use buffalos for human consumption.

Unfortunately, there are some unfortunate incidents wherein carabaos went wild and attacked people. Sometimes, there are buffalos end up attacking their masters.

The 22-year-old farmer identified as Kaharodin Mamaidu, a resident of Barangay Tuka in barangay Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur was seriously injured after being attacked by his own last Saturday (January 7, 2023).

The victim and his carabao arrived home from the farm when the animal suddenly went wild and attacked him for an unknown reason. The buffalo gutted him and gored him in the stomach a couple of times.

Luckily, his neighbors quickly rescued him from the raging buffalo. The people immediately brought him to the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital for urgent medical treatment and surgical operation.

Mamaidu’s family sold the carabao after the incident and will use the money to pay the hospital bills.
