Matet de Leon Mends Rift W/ Mom Nora Aunor
MATET DE LEON – Actress and entrepreneur Matet de Leon talked about her reconciliation with mom Nora Aunor.
Nora Aunor is one of the most well-known actresses in Philippine entertainment. She attained the title as the Philippines’ Superstar. She produced numerous films that left an industry-wide impression. Some of her kids joined show business as well.
The prominent actress has a biological son, actor Ian de Leon with her ex-husband, veteran actor Christopher de Leon. Actors Lotlot and Matet de Leon and actors Kiko and Kenneth de Leon are the former couple’s adopted kids.
Last December, Matet de Leon expressed her disappointment over business issues with her mom. The Superstar put up a gourmet business that “directly competed” with her business. Matet said that she felt “betrayed” by her adoptive mother and that Nora does not treat Matet as her own child.

During a live stream on her YouTube channel on Saturday, January 7, Matet De Leon said she has mended the rift between her and her mom. She said that her vow to never to talk to Nora again was just an outburst of anger.
“Kami ni mommy ko ay nagkaayos na. Nakita na nila, nag-upload na ng video si kuya John,” she said, reffering to a recent vlog by singer-rapper John Rendez in which she and Aunor were pictured together. “I think I spoke too soon when I said I didn’t want to talk to her anymore… See what anger can do?”
Matet de Leon then denied rumors that her and Nora Aunor’s conflict was merely a “gimmick,” saying that those close to her are aware that she is incapable of pulling such a stunt.
“Nagchat sa akin si mommy na sana maging maayos na, maging OK na kami, na sana kasi bagong taon [kaya] kalimutan na natin ‘yung mga nangyari nitong nakaraan,” she stated. “Who am I not to say yes to that and (not) to agree with her?”
“Ang Diyos nga nagpapatawad — ang mali ko lang do’n, sinabi ko na hindi ko na siya kakausapin. Hindi ko pala kaya,” she continued.
Matet acknowledged that the criticism she received as a result of what happened had a negative impact on her mental health, but it had also taught her to “focus on the good” and to not worry as much about what people might think.
“Bago mag-Christmas, I wanted to send mommy a message na maayos na pero nauna si mommy na magchat sa akin. I think that’s God’s way para maging maayos ang lahat,” she added.
