Mariel Padilla received funny reactions due to her MMFF prediction
Mhies on a Mission host Mariel Padilla shared her Best Actor and Best Actress prediction for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022 but this did not happen and netizens slammed her.
After watching the premiere night of the movie My Teacher, featuring Henyo Master Joey de Leon and Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga, Mariel shared her opinion about the movie which was directed by Paul Soriano.
On her Instagram Story, the wife of Senator Robin Padilla shared a photo of Joey and Toni with the caption: “Best Actor and Best Actress this MMFF!!!” Mariel and Toni have been friends for many years now. They have been very supportive of each other’s endeavors.
However, that prediction or declaration that Mariel Padilla did was not the result of the MMFF’s Gabi ng Parangal that was held on December 27. The Best Actor trophy was awarded to Ian Veneracion for the movie Nanahimik and Gabi while Nadine Lustre, the lead actress in the movie Deleter, was hailed as the Best Actress this year.
With this, netizens slammed Mariel’s prediction. A Facebook Page shared an “expectation versus reality post” showcasing the IG Story that Mariel shared and a screenshot of a post declaring Nadine’s win.
One netizen interpreted the MMFF that the TV host was supposed to refer to and it is “Miss Mariel Film Festival.” There were also who said that Mariel jinxed the Best Actress award for Toni while some mocked the “most powerful celebrity” statement that Direk Paul had in an interview.
