Police Authorities Arrested Construction Worker 2 Days Before Wedding Day Over Alleged Involvement in Robbery Incident

A man claiming to be a construction worker lands in jail two days before his wedding day for allegedly robbing a pharmacy.

A 35-year-old man identified as Richant Ngujo Baring of Barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City has been arrested by the Mandaue City Police on Monday (December 19, 2022) for allegedly robbing a pharmacy in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City.

Baring denied the accusations against him and explained that he was busy preparing for his wedding on Wednesday (December 21, 2022). The suspect claimed that he was just mistaken by the cops and the pharmacy cashier.

He said that he was waiting for a friend when the crime happened, and that’s why he was near the convenience store. The latter claimed that he is working as a construction worker and explained that he could not do such a thing.

The suspect was scheduled to marry his longtime companion in Lapu-Lapu City’s main parish, Nuestra Seora today (December 21).

However, Mandaue City Centro Police Station Police Major Erwin Abrasado said that Baring was arrested based on the evidence they have such as the plate number of the motorcycle. The CCTV footage inside the pharmacy captures his motorcycle’s plate number.

According to Abrasado, the cashier positively identified Baring as the suspect who took her mobile phone and bag. The suspect committed the crime after the cashier allegedly refused to give the baby’s milk and P500 he demanded.
