PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (December 15, 2022)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that three different weather systems will bring overcast skies and rains over most parts of the country.

On Thursday (December 15, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released the latest weather update in the country. The shearline, amihan and intertropical convergence zone will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Northern Luzon while the shear line will affect the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

The shear line will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon.

The northeast monsoon or amihan will bring similar weather condition over Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition over Ilocos Region. The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country.

“Inaasahan po ang mataas na tsansa ng pag-ulan dito sa Luzon, particularly sa Isabela, pababa ng Quirino, Aurora, at northern portion ng Quezon, dahil po ito sa shear line o hung pagsasaluboing ng mainit at malamig na hangin. Yung pag-ulan natin at moderate to heavy rains po, so posible itong magdulot ng pagbaha or landslides,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estreja said.

The weather agency has warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition Luzon will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
