Here’s Dolly de Leon Reaction To Golden Globe Nomination
DOLLY DE LEON – Actress Dolly de Leon earned her first-ever Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Abigail in “Triangle of Sadness.”
A Filipina actress Dolly De Leon has appeared in local films like Hintayan ng Langit (2018), Verdict (2019), and Historya ni Ha (2021). She rose to fame by stealing the spotlight as Abigail in the global hit “Triangle of Sadness,” for which she won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association award for best-supporting actress (LAFCA).
The 53-year-old actress also made history by becoming the first Filipino actor to be nominated for best supporting actress at the Golden Globes for the same role.
Dolly de Leon is being nominated for her role as Abigail, the “toilet manager” of a luxury yacht, in Triangle of Sadness, directed by Robert Ostlund and winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. She will be up against Carey Mulligan (She Said), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever).
This is the first time a Filipino actress has received a Golden Globe nomination in the acting category. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association had previously chosen Dolly for Best Supporting Performer, and also for Triangle of Sadness.
With these two wins in a row, Dolly de Leon’s chances of receiving an Oscar nomination appear good. On December 12, 2022, nominees for several film and television categories were announced live from the Beverly Hilton.
Just recently, Dolly gave her reaction to her Golden Globe nomination. Based on a report from ABS-CBN, the actress thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for her nomination. She said the nomination is a huge honor that she shares with other Pinoy artists.
“Thank you for including me in that very short list of very talented supporting actresses…”
“Hindi ako sanay sa nomination na ganito. Ang sarap! Sana mas marami pa sa atin ang makatanggap ng ganitong recognition because so many of us deserve it,” she added.
