Active PDEA District Chief, 2 Other Agents Arrested During Illegal Drug Buy-Bust in Taguig
Authorities arrested an active district chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a buy-bust operation in Taguig City.
In a buy-bust operation in Taguig City, the PDEA’s Southern District Office chief and five of his associates were detained. It was discovered that two of his accomplices are agents of the PDEA.
According to a report of GMA News, the suspects were identified as PDEA Southern District Office chief Enrique Lucero, and agents Anthony Vic Alabastro and Jaireh Llaguno. Mark Warren Mallo, their driver, was also taken into custody.
The suspects were apprehended after selling illegal drugs called “shabu” to a police officer who purported to be a buyer at the PDEA headquarters. The suspects were found to be in possession of illegal substances valued at about P9.18 million, according to SPD Chief Police Brigadier General Kirby Kraft.
A kilogram of suspected shabu, four weapons, a digital weighing scale, and the money from the buy-bust were all found on the suspects, according to a police report from Kraft. In addition, Kraft stated that the PDEA officers are still employed despite being detained during the aforementioned anti-illegal drug operation. The suspects chose not to make a comment about the incident.
In light of the fact that a follow-up operation is still being carried out, Kraft declined to provide any additional information regarding the operation, which was carried out by the police and PDEA.
Moro Virgilio Lazo, director general of the PDEA, has previously expressed regret for the arrests of other PDEA staff. He claims that this demonstrates their lack of discrimination in their fight against narcotics.
“Tulungan kami dito sa trabaho namin to…this campaign against illegal drugs and we agreed na wala ano dito…no sacred cows,” Lazo said.
