Why did Bernadette Sembrano decide to transfer to ABS-CBN?
TV Patrol news anchor Bernadette Sembrano recalled the decision that she made years ago when she left her former home network GMA.
Bernadette was part of the Probe Team, the entity that was behind the remarkable documentaries that were shown on the Kapuso network. Aside from being a documentarist back then, Bernadette was also hosting the public service program Wish Ko Lang.
Prior to her stint in the Kapuso network, she was a news anchor on IBC 13 where she started her career in news and public affairs.
Amid her beautiful career as a Kapuso journalist, Bernadette decided to resign, and later on, she transferred to ABS-CBN. In a recent interview on talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz‘s YouTube channel, Bernadette Sembrano that there was something that prompted her to make that decision.
Ogie asked Bernadette if there was a smooth transition. She said that any change or transition would be hurtful to the former network but looking at the big picture, she can say that it was smooth. Bernadette said that it was not planned but it happened.
She stressed that she resigned and ABS-CBN did not pirate her. “Yun po talaga ang totoo,” the news anchor said. Bernadette also said that she was not terminated. Back then, GMA did not renew its contract with the Probe Team and so she eventually decided to resign from being the host of Wish Ko Lang.
At that time, Bernadette Sembrano also did an investigative report that did not sit well with the management of the network. She is thankful that the Kapuso network gave her the opportunity to be the host of the wish-granting public service program.
“But I felt I had to leave the network because of what happened doon sa relationship ng Probe and GMA-7,” Bernadette said. She also said that she has still full respect for the people she left in the Kapuso network.
