VHONG NAVARRO – The Court of Appeals (CA) denied the plea of Cedric Lee to junk Vhong Navarro’s filed case against him.

Showtime host Vhong Navarro remains detained. Last September, based on a previous article, his plea to stay in the NBI detention center was denied by the Taguig RTC Branch 69. To recall, he voluntarily surrendered last September 20 to the National Bureau of Investigation after the Taguig court ordered his arrest for acts of lasciviousness case filed by model Deniece Cornejo way back in 2014.

Amid his legal battle, businessman Cedric Lee filed motion to dismiss the serious illegal detention case filed by Navarro.

The case is for the incident where Lee and six others – Deniece Cornejo, Bernice Cua Lee, Simeon Palma Raz Jr., Jose Paolo Gregorio Calma, Sajed Fernandez Abuhijleh, and Ferdinand Guerrero – held Navarroin Cornejo’s Bonifacio Global City condominium unit on January 22, 2014.

The actor-comedian swore that while he was detained by the group, they threatened him and asked him for Php 2 million or else they will kill him.

Lee’s motion to dismiss Navarro’s case against him was junked by the Court of Appeals. In a 12-page document signed by Associate Justice Angelene Mary Quimpo Sale, the court considered the motion to dismiss “a second demurrer to evidence”.

In a report from PEP, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque expressed that this decision gave Navarro “more strength to continue with the battle”.

“Umaasa si Vhong na patuloy na lalabas ang katotohanan. Hindi madali ang pinagdadaanan niya lalo na ngayon na patuloy pa rin siyang nakakulong sa NBI. Pero ang ganitong mga balita really helps him to stay positive and to keep his faith,” the actor’s legal counsel said.
