Message of Pres. Bongbong Marcos for Filipinos for UNDAS 2022
BONGBONG MARCOS – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. gave a message for the UNDAS 2022 celebration in the Philippines.
Today, October 31, is a special non-working day in the Philippines and many Filipinos are preparing for the All Saint’s Day and the All Soul’s Day celebration. A lot of Pinoys are coming home to their home provinces and cities.
It has been a part of the Philippine tradition that Filipinos go to cemeteries during UNDAS to light a candle or offer prayers for their loved ones who have passed away. Some Filipino families even bring food and stay at the graveyards of their dead loved ones on November 1 and 2.
However, the previous UNDAS celebrations were quite different due to the pandemic. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos released a statement highlighting his wish for the Filipinos to have a “meaningful celebration”.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos said that the previous pandemic forced the Filipinos “to come to terms with mortality”. According to him, it taught the people to really make our days count and to reflect on the true meaning of a meaningful life and pass away free from regrets and at peace with oneself.
Pres. Marcos also expressed his hope that our efforts in remembering the saints and our late loved ones will bring healing to our hearts. According to him, the memories left by our loved ones who died “both remind us to strive, live Christ-centered lives, and fulfill our life’s purpose” until we meet God.
Based on the report, the President further expressed his hope that the memories will reinforce the foundations of faith and keep everyone to live with compassion and genuine love.
