Sam Milby tries not to indulge himself on social media
Kapamilya actor Sam Milby shared the reason why he chose not to be active on social media, unlike other celebrities.
Being active on social media is part of the lives of many celebrities nowadays. Through different platforms, they are able to share with their fans glimpses of their lives and this has become a way also to reach out to their supporters.
Social media platforms have become a tool also for promotion or advertisement and through these, it is much easier for celebrities to make announcements about certain projects that they have.
However, for Sam Milby, there is a certain limitation when it comes to sharing part of his life on social media. In a recent interview, based on the article in Manila Bulletin, the actor said that toxicity hinders him to be more indulgent in sharing things online.
“I understand that it’s part of the job – sharing with fans – and I want to. It’s just, ang problema kasi sa social media – I understand that there are a lot of fans out there, a lot of supporters, but it’s also toxic,” the actor shared his personal choice.
He added that nowadays, people love to express their judgment and hide behind some profile. Sam said that he is not bothered by this but there is so much toxicity in this. “Sometimes I’m more afraid para sa mga bata ngayon,” the actor said. It is because some young people would base their identity on the likes and comments that they get on social media.
With this kind of situation online, Sam said that this has affected the mental health of many people. “I feel like the intention of social media before was good. But now, especially, I feel sad with the Filipino culture – we love to bash people and judge,” he said.
Sam Milby said that this is the reason why he and his girlfriend Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray chose not to divulge details of their relationship online.
