PAGASA Says PH to Experience Cloudy to Rainy Weather Due to Tropical Depression Obet
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Obet slightly accelerates and will bring cloudy to rainy weather condition.
On Friday (October 21, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Obet will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that Obet has been last spotted 335 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
“Obet’s track will pass over or be very close to Batanes and Babuyan Islands this afternoon or evening. Obet’s radius or entire diameter is almost 500 kilometers. So by this morning or afternoon, wind and rain are expected over a large part of Northern Luzon, especially the Batanes and Cagayan provinces,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estreja said.
Obet will bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands over the northern portions of Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and mainland Cagayan.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over the rest of Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.
The shear line will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
The ITCZ and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
However, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remains over Batanes, Babuyan Islands and the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan.
