Police Authorities Arrest 22 Individuals Over Illegal Cockfight

The police authorities arrested 22 individuals for participating in an illegal cockfight in Tondo, Manila.

Over the past few decades, cockfighting has been and still is a popular, traditional and customary form of recreation and entertainment among Filipinos during legal holidays, local fiestas, agricultural, commercial and industrial fairs, carnivals, or expositions.

A lot of cockfighting aficionados usually join every event with the aim to earn a huge amount of cash in an instant. Most of them just wanted to earn fame by winning events and some wanted to participate because of their hobby.

However, unofficial cockfighting event is considered a form of illegal gambling. Anyone who is involved in illegal cockfighting will be subject to corresponding sanctions and penalties.

Recently, the cops arrested 22 individuals for participating in an illegal cockfight in Tondo, Manila. The authorities recovered the roosters, gaffs, and bet amounting to more than P19, 000 from the participants.

The Manila Police District brought the illegal gamblers to the Detective Special Operations Unit.

Meanwhile, six individuals in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan have been arrested for joining illegal gambling. The cops recovered two cocks and bet money worth P1, 100 from the accused.

The illegal gamblers refused to give a statement regarding the incident.
