PAGASA Says Easterlies & ITCZ to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the easterlies and the intertropical convergence zone will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (October 4, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies and the intertropical convergence zone will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the Easterlies will be affecting the eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas. The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will be also affecting Mindanao.

The easterlies would bring cloudy conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.

“Yung easterlies ay patuloy na nakakaapekto sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon at ganun din sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas at yung [ITCZ] ay naapektuhan ang malaking bahagi ng Mindanao,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldcazar Aurelio said.

The ITCZ will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Bicol region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

The localized thunderstorm will bring similar weather conditions over the Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro as well as Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency has also advised the public to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern and central Luzon will be moderate. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
