Donation for Street Sweeper Run Over by SUV Allegedly Stole by Scammer
A heartless scammer reportedly stole the cash donation for the elderly street sweeper run over by SUV in Parañaque.
Last week, Parañaque City Police Station reported that a 63-year-old female street sweeper named Doreen Bacus suffered severe injuries as she was hit by a sports utility vehicle at the corner of Elizalde Avenue and Aguirre Avenue in Barangay BF Homes.
The woman was sweeping the street when an SUV hit, dragged and ran over her. The SUV driver identified as Raymond Maraña immediately run away after the incident. The victim was rushed to the Ospital ng Paranaque and was transferred to the Philippine General Hospital.
Eventually, the police authorities arrested the suspect and detained him at the Traffic Vehicular Investigation Unit for investigation. He will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injury.
Recently, Doreen’s son, Jade Bacus shared the video footage of her mom’s condition. He expressed his disappointment due to the incident and gets frustrated after a scammer allegedly stole the P76, 000 cash donation for his mom’s medical treatment.
Jade narrated that the scammer pretended as a representative of a charity that wanted to help the hit-and-run victim.
“Lahat ng donasyon sa GCAsh po is na-scam po, napakabilis po kasi ng pangyayari. Ang galing po magsalita nung babae. Sabi niya po tutulong po siya, taga-charity daw po siya. Tsaka napanood daw niya po yung video ni mama kaya gusto daw nilang makatulong,” Jade said.
The SUV driver’s cousin regularly visits Doreen to check her condition.
