Mayor Baste Duterte Answers if Davao is Still a Livable City

Mayor Baste Duterte Answers Netizen Asking if Davao is Still a Livable City

Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte answered the question of a netizen allegedly asking if Davao City is still a livable city.

A citizen complained to the mayor of Davao City about an apparent lack of water supply in their community. The netizen in the aforementioned post could not help but wonder whether Davao City is still a “livable city” under his administration given that there is still no water supply there.

They still have to travel to motels to take showers, and they are unable to cook since there is no water. The ‘Davao Life Is Here’ signs on Davao’s roadways are reportedly better off being removed by Duterte because it appears that the city is no longer a habitable one.

“Yes, pogi ka pero wala ka naga work tarong. (Hindi ka maayos magtrabaho). Be proactive. Summon DCWD (Davao City Water District),” said the netizen.

In response, Duterte stated that he had already discussed the matter with the DCWD. Duterte’s response received a mixed response from online users. An online user criticizes Mayor Baste’s response to criticism for becoming a defense.

“How leaders respond to concerns and complaints reveals how quickly they turn to defense. Acknowledge the emotional aspects of the complaint. What good does it do responding to them with foul language? And just because you felt the tone of the complaint was disrespectful doesn’t mean you post a screenshot of what should’ve been a private message of a citizen merely wanting to voice out their struggle.” said netizen May Anne Deseo.

Duterte answered this and said that he also has emotions. According to his post, stating that she merely wants to voice out their struggle is an understatement if you really consider the words she used in that message.

“Do you see any sentence or statement in any of my comments that I defended myself? No. Did the individual recognize or acknowledge that the person she messaged has emotions too? No. Stating that she “merely wants to voice out their struggle” is an understatement if you really consider the words she used in that message.” said Duterte.

“If you think that I posted this without knowing the reaction it will bring out then you are wrong. I posted this so that this interaction will come from me and will not be used against me. Simply because I want to throw b*llsh*t at people who talk b*llsh*t. If you ain’t vibin, you ain’t chillin.” he added.
