On Sunday (May 12, 2024), a 50-year-old mother suffered wounds after being assaulted by her own child this Mother’s Day. According to the investigation, the incident took place in Brgy. Santo Rosario-Duran in Iloilo City Proper around 6 in the morning.
Based on the statement of the 32-year-old child, she was accused by her mom of commanding her cousin to buy whiskey. The child denied the accusation, but the mother persisted and became aggressive. The incident led the child to losing temper and assaulting her mother.
The suspect has since apologized to their mother and assured her that it won’t happen again. Both parties are currently at the police station, and the child might face imprisonment as this is the second time such an incident has happened.
The incident emphasizes the importance of addressing emotions and problems within families and seeking help when needed, especially during celebratory occasions like Mother’s Day.
