At the age of 96 years old, Queen Elizabeth II ended her 70-year reign shortly after she celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, the first monarch to have reached it. Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin traveled from Belmoral and arrived at Edinburgh as she is on her last journey. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, her casket was made at least 32 years ago of English oak which is considered rare nowadays and expensive to use for coffins. It is lined with lead which preserves the remains of the person longer after the burial as it airtights the casket to prevent moisture. It is heavier than other caskets because of the lead and eight (8) pallbearers are needed to carry it.

  • 12:32 p.m. – Buckingham Palace released a statement saying that doctors are concerned about the health of Queen Elizabeth II. They suggested to place her under medical supervision. She was at her summer home in Scotland then. After a while, members of the parliament received a message that “The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral”. The house prayed for the royal family.
  • 12:45 p.m. – The Clarence House confirmed that then Prince Charles, the heir and the eldest son of the Queen, flew to Balmoral together with his wife, Camilla.
  • 12:46 p.m. – The Kensington Palace office said that Prince William will also be travelling to Balmoral.
  • 1:55 p.m. – The spokesperson of Prince Harry, the second and youngest son of then Prince Charles, confirmed that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, who are based in the United States will go to Scotland. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, only Prince Harry was able to make it to the trip.
  • 2:39 p.m. – The Royal Air Force flight KRF23R carrying Prince William and the two younger brothers of the Queen, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, took off.
  • 3:50 p.m. – Prince William, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and Sophie arrived at Aberdeen Airport.
  • 4:30 p.m. – The spokesman of the Prime Minister said that there was already an information that the Queen died.
  • 5:05 p.m. – The car carrying the royalties arrived at Balmoral gates.
  • 6:30 p.m. – The Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II died “peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon”.
