The photo of Manny Pacquiao and Chavit Singson who just reconciled catches attention.
MANNY PACQUIAO – Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao and politician Chavit Singson finally reconciles, burying the hatchet.
In many fights of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, one of the constant personalities present in all of those fights is the former Narvacan, Ilocos Sur mayor Chavit Singson. However, in Pacquiao’s last fight, the Pacquiao-Ugas fight, he wasn’t present and it was because there has been a misunderstanding between them.
Their misunderstanding was because of the tobacco tax increase Pacman has been pushing when he was still a senator. Singson talked him out about this matter because one of the major sources of income in Ilocos comes from the tobacco industry.
Pacman couldn’t give in to his appeal because he believed that this is just a vice. What mattered to him at that time is to have no increase in rice and other food necessities.
“Kinausap niya ako sa tobacco tax increase. Huwag ko daw ituloy. Pero sabi ko, ‘Pasensiya ka na. Best friend kita pero hindi kita mapagbibigyan,'” says Pacman previously.
Also, because of this misunderstanding, he did bet the support of Singson. During the election, Singson supported his rival Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running mate Sara Duterte, who are now the current president and vice president of the country.
But it seems like the two of them have gotten past their issues. Just recently, Ako Ilocano Ako Party List Representative Richelle Singson-Michael, daughter of Singson, shared a photo of the two of them showing that they have already patched things up.
“Because Friendship is stronger than Politics,” says Richelle in the post.
