Darryl Yap is starting research for the sequel of ‘Maid in Malacañang’
Director-writer Darryl Yap has set a meeting with Public Attorney’s Office head Atty. Persida Acosta for the Maid in Malacañang sequel the Martyr or Murderer.
Direk Darryl’s first movie about the Marcoses has become controversial as it was condemned by the people who are critics of the prominent political clan. However, as early as now, fans of the movie are already anticipating the next installment.
In a previous interview, based on the article by actress Giselle Sanchez in Manila Bulletin, the director-writer intended this project to be a trilogy. She was the one who gave life to the character of “Cory” in the movie.
“That ‘Martyr Or Murderer,’ sino ang pumatay sa unang dilawan. And yung ‘MaM,’ ‘Mabuhay aloha Mabuhay.’ It will tackle naman the life of Marcoses away from the Philippines; in Hawaii and when they get back again in the Philippines,” Direk Darryl Yap said about the sequels of MiM.
Giselle shared that Direk Darryl sent a screenshot of his message to Atty. Acosta. The director-writer asked the PAO head if he could meet her to ask questions about the late Ninoy Aquino.
Here’s the message of the director-writer to Atty. Acosta:
“Hi Atty. Acosta, ako po si Darryl Yap. Ako po ang writer/director ng Maid in Malacanang. Pasensiya na po at aabalihin ko kayo, dapat po today, kaso po delayed po ang flight ko pabalik ng Pinas. Gusto ko kayong makausap tungkol sa pagpatay kay Ninoy, alam ko po isa kayo sa masugid na nagpapabukas ng kaso mula kay Cory, FVR at Noynoy—-gusto ko po malaman kung bakit ayaw nilang buksan ang kaso. After Dubai premiere ko na po kayo mapupuntahan.”
The lawyer replied to this with the date and time but Giselle did not elaborate on this matter. The actress also cited in her article for her column Gossip Girl, the time when Direk Darryl was interviewed by Coach Jarret.
The director-writer shared a preview of what going to be the sequel of MiM. He said that this will tackle the “greatest bintang” or accusation against the Marcoses and it is about the death of Ninoy Aquino. Allegedly, it was the late President Ferdinand Marcos who ordered the former Senator to be killed.
“I want to present why people should believe that it’s not them… I will start by asking in the film… if your father died or if your husband dies, there should be a fire in you to solve it…. why is it until now that the wife is now gone, the son is also gone, but the justice for the father is not yet given,” Direk Darryl stressed.
Previously, Darryl Yap shared a photo that made netizens argue if it is Phillip Salvador or Herbert Bautista. Apparently, he was hinting at the actor who will portray Ninoy in MoM. He also shared a photo of Jerome Ponce with the caption: #MoM Flashback • Young Yellow.” With this, netizens believed that Jerome will portray the young Ninoy.
