Earthquake Today: Lanao del Norte Hit by 4.0 Magnitude Quake

Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about Earthquake Today August 11, 2022 in Lanao del Norte

EARTHQUAKE TODAY AUGUST 11, 2022 – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.

Recently, a quake hit a part of Lanao del Norte, August 11, 2022. At 12:17 a.m., Poona Piagapo was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake today August 11, 2022 that hit a part of Lanao del Norte was located at 08.08°North, 124.06°East – 001 km South 72° East of Poona Piagapo with a depth of origin of 011 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. The agency stated that the following intensities were felt in these areas:

  • Intensity IV – Pantao Ragat, Tubod, Lala, and Baroy, Lanao del Norte
  • Intensity III – Bacolod, Munai, Poona Piagapo, and City of Iligan, Lanao del Norte;
  • Pualas, Lanao del Sur
  • Intensity II – Balo-i, Lanao del Norte; Clarin, Misamis Occidental
