Meta Says Filipino Users Can Still Do Facebook Live Selling After Big Announcement
Meta, the operator of Facebook clarified that the users in the Philippines can still do Facebook live selling.
A few days ago, Meta announces in a blog that Facebook remove the live shopping feature on the platform starting October 1, 2022. The app will no longer allow eCommerce merchants to host live shopping.
Sellers could not create product playlists or tag products. Merchants have to find other avenues for selling items on Facebook. The live feature is still available but selling will be only available in short-form videos such as Reels.
“From 1 October 2022, you will no longer be able to host any new or scheduled live shopping events on Facebook, As consumers’ viewing behaviors are shifting to short-form video, we are shifting our focus to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, Meta’s short-form video product,” Meta states.
Users can also boost their products through paid ads. The company also increases the potential for Reels to gain more income.
However, Meta made a clarification after making the announcement. The firm explained that Filipino users may still do live selling through Facebook because the “Live Shopping” tool was not made available in the Philippines.
In short, Filipino people can still do live selling on Facebook.
