Powerful Quake Victims in Abra to Get P10k Cash Aid From Gov’t, DSWD Says

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that the powerful quake victims in Abra may receive up to P10,000 cash aid.

On Thursday (July 28, 2022), DSWD Assistant Secretary Rommel Lopez said that victims of the magnitude 7.3 earthquake in Abra may receive up to P10,000 cash assistance from the government.

Lopez said that the agency has already released an initial amount of P10 million for the quake-affected victims in Abra and various areas across Northern Luzon. It aims to help our countrymen whose houses and properties suffered severe damage.

“Ang sinisiguro ni [Social Welfare Secretary] Erwin Tulfo, naka-ready ‘yung ating mga pang-ayuda sa ating mga kababayan. At this point in time, naglabas na ng initial na P10 million ‘yung DSWD,” Lopez said.

The DSWD official said that the cash assistance program is a program of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation o AICS. However, social welfare officers will assess the victims before releasing cash aid.

“’Yung ating mga kababayan na naging biktima ng sakunang ito, maaari po silang tumanggap ng P5,000 to P10,000 under ito ng Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation o AICS,” Lopez added.

DSWD chief Erwin Tulfo fly to Abra to check the situation of the victims in the area.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also visited Abra and instruct the immediate restoration of power and communication lines in the province.
