Darryl Yap Reacts To Joel Lamangan’s ‘Patutsada’

Darryl Yap says he respects Joel Lamangan

Maid in Malacanang writer-director Darryl Yap reacted to the “patutsada” of veteran director Joel Lamangan against the movie about the Marcoses.

Direk Joel aired his criticism against the movie during the launch of Never Again, Never Forget ML50 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law by the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

The veteran director said that Maid in Malacanang is the effort of the Marcoses to change the truth and to hide their wrongdoings. He also said that he will watch the movie by Darryl Yap and he will do a “historical movie” also that will contradict Maid in Malacanang.

Following the “patutsada” that Direk Joel had for Direk Darryl and his movie, the younger director shared his reaction through the post on Vincentiments Facebook Page. Direk Darryl said that he has big respect for the veteran director and that he will not say anything against Direk Joel.

Direk Darryl said that he will answer Direk Joel with a “pagmamataas” because he considers the veteran director as one of the pillars of the Philippine entertainment industry. On the other hand, the younger director shared a reminder.

“Pero mainam rin na paalalahanan siya na, hindi lang siya ang anak ng Diyos at ng Bayan, hindi lang siya ang may kwento at hindi lang ang mga kwento nya ang may kwenta,” Direk Darryl said.

The director of the controversial movie also answered the accusation of the veteran director that the public funds were used for the movie. “VIVA ang nagproduce nito— kung saan dun din sya gumawa at patuloy na gumagawa ng pelikula,” Direk Darryl stressed.

With that argument coming from the side of Direk Joel, the younger director imposed a challenge. He said that the veteran director should encourage his fellow believers that Maid In Malacanang is “k*tar*ntaduhn” not to work under Viva anymore.

“Kasi baka pera ng taumbayan yan, nakakahiya naman sa mga prinsipyo nila. yan eh, kung talagang yan ang ipinaglalaban at paninindigan niya yung mga sinabi niya kanina,” the younger director said. Despite the “patutsada” from the veteran director, the younger director said that he will not use any degrading word. “Sana maalala niya na Joel Lamangan na siya, hindi siya dapat nababahala sa isang Darryl Yap lang,” the Maid in Malacanang director said.
