ANDRE BRILLANTES – Kapamilya actress Andrea Brillantes has a rare condition called congenital anosmia and she opened up about this.

Congenital anosmia is a condition Kapamilya actress Andrea Brillantes was born with. Apparently, this condition is rare that it has no known cause or cure to it. She is open about this part of herself and even talked about this a few times during interviews and even on her social media pages.

She no sense of smell since she was born but despite having this rare impairment, she’s still conscious of how she would smell whenever she’s around people or celebrities. She would always carry a bottle of perfume with her and always loves when someone praises her fragrance.

Her fans actually noticed that she uses Jo Malone London’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey and Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb to smell nice. Although she doesn’t have any idea what vanilla smells like but she loves to use this type of fragrant. She loves a sweet but warm smell.

Opening up about her disability, she expressed that she hasn’t experienced the world the way people with complete sense experience it. She can see, feel, taste, and hear but she cannot smell. She can’t detect if food is spoiled and she feels like her anosmia is also the reason why she prefers eating colorful food.

She said, “Hindi ko alam if kulang yung sa akin. Pero sabi nila, kulang kaya daw ako mahilig sa mga sobrang maasim, maalat, sweet.”

The actress added that she has her sister and boyfriend to help her choose a nice scent. She actually loves collecting scents and she has them to explain to her a particular smell.

“Ang ate ko, maraming pabango, mahilig sa pabango. Spray, spray lang ako diyan ‘tapos umiinit lang yung leeg ko sa kaka-spray ko. Wala akong naaamoy,” she said.
