Herlene Budol has this plea to pageant fans in the Philippines
Former Wowowin host Herlene Budol asked people to give her a chance as one of the candidates in Binibining Pilipinas 2022.
Filipinos are known for being big pageant fans. Pageantry has become a part of pop culture in the Philippines. During pageant seasons, many Pinoys are really following the journeys of their favorite candidates.
This year, many pageant fans were surprised when Herlene, also known as Hipon Girl, was named as one of the official candidates for Bb. Pilipinas. She received praises for her determination to explore her abilities but she also received negative reactions.
Herlene Budol is known for her comic personality and some might have thought that she is not fit to be on a pageant stage. In an interview, based on the article in Inquirer, the former game show host plead, “Please give me a chance. There’s no harm in trying.”
She admitted that she would always hear comments that she is not the typical beauty pageant contestant and there are those who would say that she will never become a beauty queen. “Why, don’t I have enough right to be crowned?” Herlene asked.
She also asked people to watch her first before making some comments. Herlene believes that everyone deserves a chance to change and to learn more and that she might also deserve this chance.
Herlene Budol also expressed gratitude to entrepreneur and former Mister Gay World Philippines Wilbert Tolentino for managing her. Wilbert is the one who convinced the former TV host to join the Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
The entrepreneur even hired pageant expert Rodgil Flores of the “Kagandahang Flores” beauty camp to help Herlene in her journey to the crown.
