“Maahon ang pangalan” is important to Imee Marcos. Here’s the interview.
IMEE MARCOS – Senator Imee Marcos stresses that lifting their family name is important and for their father’s legacy to be revisited.
The proclaimed 17th president of the Philippines is Bongbong Marcos. He earned over 31 million votes leaving his rivals and closest rival in the presidential seat with no chance of getting close to him. His running mate Sara Duterte, on the other hand, won the vice presidential race.
And just, when asked about living in the Malacanang Palace again, Senator Imee Marcos shared that she and her president-elect brother have talked about this matter already. Even before winning, PBBM accordingly said that he does not plan on living in the Palace again.
Imee agrees to this because she believed they have their time before and spent so many years living there. She said in an interview, “Bago pa manalo kapatid ko sinasabi niya ‘di siya titira sa Malacañang. Sabi ko, tama naman kasi noong bata kami wala siyang ginawa kundi tumakas nang tumakas ng Palasyo.”

To recall, the former dictator was ousted from the position in 1986 through the EDSA People Power revolution. Ferdinand Marcos Sr.’s dictatorship is historically known for its widespread graft and human rights abuses.
In a report from ABS-CBN, Imee also stressed that one important thing for them is rebuilding their name and their father’s legacy.
“Ang importante ‘yong maahon namin ang pangalan namin, ang apelyido namin, ‘yong legacy ng tatay ko mabalikan at tignan nang maigi,” said Sen. Imee.
Meanwhile, PBBM’s inauguration will be on June 30 and their whole family, including their mother, will attend.
