Sabungero Dies of Blood Loss After Accidentally Hit by Rooster’s Gaff Inside Cockpit Arena
A sabungero has passed away due to blood loss after a rooster’s gaff accidentally hit him inside a cockpit arena.
The 47-year-old cockfighting aficionado identified as Ronnel Nator went to a cockpit arena at Barangay San Vicente in Tagkawayan town, Quezon province to join a game last Sunday afternoon (May 22, 2022).
According to Tagkawayan Police investigator Police Staff Sergeant Archiband Nase is installing the gaff or locally known as “Tari” to his game cock for a fight with another rooster when it suddenly went berserk.
The rooster’s bladed gaff accidentally hit Nator’s right thigh. The latter suffered a deep wound from the three-inch-bladed gaff. He was rushed to the hospital but lost a lot of blood before reaching the health institution.
“Nagsasabong sila yung legal na sabungan dito sa Tagkawayan. Nung aktong magbibitaw na sila ng manok, aksidenteng nag-hysterical itong manok at tumama dito sa kaniyang hita (ang tari),” Nase said.
The hospital employees declared the ‘sabungero’ dead on arrival after suffering massive blood loss because of his wound.
“Isa lang naman po ang tama nya kaso medyo malalim po biglang sumirit ‘yung maraming dugo, sir,” Nase added.
The game cock has been brought to the Tagkawayan Police Station. The authorities also advised the cockfighting aficionados to take precautionary measures when handling their roosters.
The victim’s family has yet to give a statement regarding the incident.
