PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (May 20)
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the southwesterly surface wind flow will bring cloudy condition over some parts of the country.
On Friday (May 20, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released the latest weather update in the country. The southwesterly surface wind flow will affect country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that the Southwesterly Surface Windflow will be affecting the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
The Southwesterly Surface Windflow will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Cagayan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, and Pampanga.
The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the entire Visayas, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands.
Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon as well as Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.
“Patuloy ang mga pag-ulan sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon dulot ng southwesterly surface windflow o ‘yung hangin galing sa Timog Kanluran, lalo na po sa Western sections ng Northern and Central Luzon. While for the rest of the country, meron lamang mga localized thunderstorms o pulo-pulong pag-ulan sa hapon hanggang sa gabi,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.
The weather agency also advised the public to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over extreme northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The rest of Luzon and the rest of the country will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
