PAGASA Says ITCZ & Frontal System to Affect PH Weather Condition

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the intertropical convergence zone and the frontal system will trigger rains over some parts of the country.

On Monday (May 16, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The intertropical convergence zone and the frontal system will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the Frontal System will be affecting Extreme Northern Luzon while the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will affect Mindanao. The frontal system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands.

“Sa araw na ito, dahil sa epekto ng frontal system, ang Ilocos Norte, Batanes, at Babuyan Islands ay makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorm,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

The ITCZ is expected to bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Central and Easten Visayas and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands.

The Easterlies/localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon as well as the rest of Visayas and Occidental Mindoro.

“Dahil sa epekto ng ITCZ, makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorm sa Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, at Mindanao,” Aurelio added.

Possible flash floods or landslides may result are expected during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the entire country will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
