Sorsogon Hit by Earthquake with 3.0 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 3.0 magnitude quake in Sorsogon, May 17, 2022.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.
Recently, a quake hit a part of Sorsogon, May 17, 2022. At 02:10 a.m., Prieto Diaz was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Sorsogon was located at 13.01°North, 124.57°East – 041 km South 85° East of Prieto Diaz with a depth of origin of 019 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. As of this writing, the records show that no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake and as well in the nearby areas.
