Basketball Player & Colleagues Punches Poor Referee During Basketball Game in Vigan City
A poor referee in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur has lost consciousness after he was punched by a basketball player.
The health condition of the 49-year-old referee identified as Eric Astrologio in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur is getting better at the hospital after he was punched by a basketball player named Jan Micheal Reg.
The incident happened during a basketball tournament in Barangay Cabalangegan. The video shows that the athlete is having an exchange of heated arguments in the middle of the game on a basketball court.
Unfortunately, Reg together with his two siblings and cousin attacked the referee after the game. The suspect punched the victim, which sent the latter pummeling on the ground. The referee accidentally hits his head on the ground and lost its consciousness.
The suspects immediately escaped and leave the referee lying in the court after the incident. The commotion reportedly starts when the basketball player complained regarding the referee’s call.
“Paliwanag naman ng suspek especially si Jan Michael nagmura daw itong referee, siguro kaya nagawa niya itong sinuntok,” Vigan City Police Station chief Investigator EMS. Chester Dandin said.
The police authorities arrest Reg and his colleagues. The suspects will face corresponding charges. The athlete also apologized to the victim for showing such behavior. Astrologio is currently recuperating at the hospital after suffering injuries due to the incident.
