MARK VILLAR’S PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of Mark Villar and his plans if he wins the May 2022 Senatorial Election.
Mark Aguilar Villar is a businessman and politician. He is known for his work as an isolation czar amid the COVID-19 pandemic and for facilitating President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s flagship Build, Build, Build campaign.
The 43-year-old politician recently served as the Secretary of Public Works and Highways from 2016 to 2021. He is included in the senatorial slate of the UniTeam alliance of Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte. His candidacy has been endorsed by Digong.
Personal Background:
Mark Villar is the son of billionaire businessman Manny Villar and incumbent senator Cynthia Villar. He is the 2nd of three children, with an older brother, Manuel Paolo, and a younger sister, Camille Lydia.
Mark attended the International School of Manila before moving to the US to pursue higher education. He finished his degree in Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He also finished his master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
The senatorial aspirant is married to a fellow lawmaker, Emmeline Aglipay-Villar. They have a daughter, Emma Therese.
Accomplishments:
During his term as a lawmaker in the lower chamber, Mark filed at least 184 principally authored bills, at least twelve (12) of which were passed into law. He authored several bills on health, education, and livelihood.
During his time as secretary, DPWP completed a total of 5950 bridges, 29,264 km roads, 222 evacuation center, 11,340 flood control projects, 150,149 classrooms, and 133 Tatag ng Imprastraktura Para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (Tikas). These projects generated 6.5 million jobs.
