Governor Chiz Escudero’s platforms if he wins Senator & his accomplishments

CHIZ ESCUDERO’S PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of incumbent Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero and the things he promises to do if he gets elected as Senator in the May 2022 Elections.

This is not the first time for Escudero to run for Senator. He ran and won in 2007 and 2013. In 2019, he ran for Governor in his home province Sorsogon and he has been serving his constituents for three years now.

Chiz Escudero’s full name is Francis Joseph Guevara Escudero. Aside from being a politician, he is also a lawyer and an educator. He studied law at the University of the Philippines and passed the Philippine Bar in 1994. The husband of actress-fashion icon Heart Evangelista obtained a Master’s degree in International and Comparative Law at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 1996.

Serving as Sorsogon Governor, he helped improve the lives of Sorsoganons through the speedy implementation of projects on health, infrastructure, agriculture, social services, tourism, and disaster risk management.

Escudero attempted to run for vice president in 2016 as the running mate of Senator Grace Poe but unfortunately, he did not win the race.


Chiz Escudero pushed for the cityhood of Sorsogon in the lower chamber and this was approved via a plebiscite in 2000. During his term as the Representative of the First District of Sorsogon, he filed about 271 bills and the Charter of the City of Sorsogon is among the 10 laws that he principally authored in the lower house.

Escudero has authored at least 58 laws when he was serving as Senator, including the Anti-Enforced or Involuntary Disappearance Act of 2012, the Bureau of Corrections Act, and the Revised Corporation Code.

In 2015, he is one of the country’s Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) for youth leadership. He was the only Filipino who received the Asia News Network’s Asia’s Idols award in 2007. In 2008, he was recognized as one of the Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum. The Rotary Golden Wheel Award was given to him in 2012 in recognition of his contributions to political governance and the legislative field.
