SONNY TRILLANES’ PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of Sonny Trillanes and his plans if he wins the May 2022 Senatorial Election.

Antonio “Sonny” Fuentes Trillanes IV is a retired Philippine Navy officer and a politician. He is known for his involvement in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny and the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege.

The 50-year-old politician is also a vocal critic of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s administration. He contemplated a 2022 presidential run but he eventually joined VP Leni Robredo’s senatorial slate, the 1Sambayan.

Personal Background:

Sonny Trillanes was born and raised in Caloocan City. He initially attended De La Salle University for a degree in Electronics and Communications and Engineering in 1987. In 1991, he entered into public service as a cadet in the Philippine Military Academy where he graduated Cum Laude in 1995.

Trillanes is married to Arlene G. Orejana. They have 2 children namely: Francis Seth and Thea Estelle. Their 3^rd child died of an illness while he was 21 days old.

Accomplishments:

During his five-year sea duty experience, Sonny Trillanes apprehended dozens of smugglers, human smugglers, illegal fishermen, illegal loggers, and poachers. He was also part of numerous naval operations against Abu Sayyaf.

Trillanes served as a senator from 2007 to 2019. He authored at least 17 laws. He previously ran as vice president in the 2016 elections. After his term as a senator, he became a full-time lecturer at the Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines.
