Chicken & Pork Meat Prices in Various Markets Across the Country Increases Due to Fuel Price Hikes
The chicken and pork meat prices in several markets have increase due to series of fuel price hikes over the past few weeks.
The oil prices continue to increase over the past few months and the hike gets worse due to the Russia-Ukraine war. The unexpected increase severely affect the transport sector and other businesses.
Various transport groups in the country have sought P1 fare increase due to the series of pump price hike over last few weeks. The surging fuel prices even affect the prices of basic commodities and other essential products.
In Galas Public Market in Manila, the prices of chicken meat go up to P190 per kilogram while pork meat increased by P20 per kilo. Pork meat hits P320 per kilo while liempo roughly hits P380 per kilo.
According to the vendors, the price of various meat products have increased after the suppliers from the north imposed hike. Meanwhile, the price of fish remains stable as of this current time.
Meanwhile, the prices of vegetables from Benguet have already increase due to the consecutive fuel price hike. Benguet Vegetable Truckers and Drivers Association secretary Rodrigo Lawan said that vegetables increase P0.50 per kilo.
Lawan said that they can’t do anything about it because the delivery driver’s expenses have already increased due to the surging prices of petroleum products. Vegetables that requires sea transport have increase by P3 per kilogram.
“Sa roro natin, nagdagdag sila ng pamasahe ng 17% doon sa kargada po ng ano natin, ng trucking. Going to Iloilo, 3 piso, almost 50% nang dinagdag doon sa presto ng gulay, nadagdagan po ng 3 piso so pagdating po sa consumer, e may dagdag po, medyo tumaas,” Lawan said.
