Comelec Speaks on Debate for Presidential Candidates this March 19
COMELEC – The Commission on Elections said that 9/10 presidential candidates confirmed that they will attend the upcoming debate.
The May 2022 Election is fast approaching. Many Filipinos have already decided who to vote for in the upcoming poll that includes both national and local elections. There are ten 10 candidates for president in the upcoming poll.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte promised the Filipinos that the May 2022 Election will be fair and honest. He also previously confirmed that he has started packing and he looks forward to experiencing being the outgoing Chief Executive.
Currently, most of the time of the presidential candidates is dedicated to their campaign activities. They are visiting different cities and provinces in the country.
Aside from the grand rallies, another event that many Filipino voters are looking forward to is the debate. The Commission on Election (Comelec) organized a presidential and vice-presidential debate.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the first presidential debate will be on March 19. According to Comelec, 9/10 candidates for president have confirmed to attend the upcoming debate event.
Comelec revealed that only former Senator Bongbong Marcos has not confirmed whether or not he will be attending the upcoming debate. Previously, his spokesperson said that his attendance depends on the availability of his schedule.
The camp of Marcos Jr. also previously revealed that they sent a letter to the poll body as the Partido ng Federal standard-bearer wants that there will be a discussion first among the poll body and the presidential candidates regarding the format of the debate including the issues to be tackled.
Comelec previously said that the candidates will be given the general debate topics prior to the event. Several presidential bets did not agree with it as they want it raised during the event.
