Camp of Davao Mayor Sara Duterte Speaks on Comelec-Led Vice Presidential Debates

SARA DUTERTE – The Davao City Mayor’s spokesperson said that she will not attend the vice-presidential debates organized by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The May 2022 Election is fast approaching and the candidates are currently busy campaigning in the different cities and provinces across the nation. They are meeting with their supporters and doing caravans to gain more votes in the upcoming poll.

The supporters of the candidates have also conducted their own ways of campaigning for their bets. They joined the motorcades and caravans, printed posters and streamers expressing their support, and a lot more.

Aside from the campaign activities, another thing that many people await is the debate. There are usually presidential and vice-presidential debates held prior to the poll.

Recently, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that the first round of the presidential debate will be held in March. It has yet to announce the date for the vice-presidential candidate. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the camp of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said that she will not attend the vice-presidential debate.

According to Christine Frasco, the spokesperson of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, they have yet to receive an invitation from the Comelec regarding the vice-presidential debate. However, based on the report, Duterte-Carpio’s spokesperson said that whether or not there is an invitation, “she will not be attending the debate”.

The presidential debate will be held in three rounds. The first round will be held in Metro Manila on March 19 and it will be televised. According to the poll body, the questions will not be given in advance to the candidates and bringing scripts won’t be allowed as well. Nine (9) presidential candidates have confirmed their attendance at the upcoming debate.
