AirAsia Airplane Forced to Divert Course After Discovering Snake on Board
An AirAsia airplane was forced to change course after snake has been spotted on board, according to Agence France-Presse.
The AirAsia pilot in Malaysia has decided to make a diversion of course after a snake was spotted crawling inside the lighting panel. The reptile was seen above the passengers, which causes fear inside the plane.
The passengers saw the reptile in the middle of the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau. The passengers of AK5748 were treated to an exclusive live recreation of that famous Samuel L Jackson film.
The flight changed course several hours after the departure. The plane landed at Kuching, 900 kilometers away from Tawau for emergency landing so the aircraft could be disinfected. The incident has been described as “very rare” because it does not happen regularly.
“As soon as the captain was aware, he made the decision to divert the aircraft to Kuching as a precautionary measure to fumigate the aircraft,” AirAsia said in a statement.
AirAsia chief safety officer Liong Tien Ling explained that they made an emergency landing to ensure the safety of their crew and passengers.
“This is a very rare incident which can occur on any aircraft from time to time. The captain took the appropriate action, and the flight will depart for Tawau as soon as possible. The safety and well-being of our guests and crew are always our top priority. At no time was the safety of guests or crew at any risk,” the airline added.
