Aiko Melendez stressed that in politics, friendships should not be affected
Actress Aiko Melendez shared her thoughts on supporting the BBM-Sara tandem while her manager and close friend Ogie Diaz is supporting the Leni-Kiko tandem.
Aiko goes back to the political arena as she is running for councilor in Quezon City. Her boyfriend Jay Khonghun is the current Vice Governor of Zambales. On February 8, Aiko was one of the celebrities who attended the proclamation rally of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos and vice-presidential aspirant Sara Duterte at the Philippine Arena.
She shared photos taken during the event on her Instagram account. In one of her posts, Aiko Melendez talked about the differences in political views that people may have. However, she stressed the importance of respecting each other’s choices.
“Hindi natin kailan man dapat pag awayan ang mga kandidato na nais nateng supportahan. Meron tayong kanya kanyang manok pero dapat manaig ang pagmamahal naten sa ating bansa,” the actress said.
Aiko cited one good example – the respect that she and her manager Ogie Diaz have towards each other despite having different political views. The comedian-talent manager is a known supporter of Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Perfect example kami ni Mader Ogie Diaz magkaiba ang aming Presidente at sya ang manager ko pero never nya inimpose sa akin na bawal ako magsupporta sa iba. Kasi me RESPETO kami sa bawat isa po,” she said. Aside from being talent-talent manager relationship, they are also close friends for many years now.
Aiko Melendez also said that she and Ogie Diaz would talk about politics but instead of fighting, they listen to each other. With this, she said that she hopes that other people would also have this kind of relationship despite having different political views. “Maturity also plays a good factor in every relationship,” she needed.
