Gary Valenciano can now exercise his right to vote
Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano revealed that in this coming May 2022 elections, it will be his first time to vote.
The OPM icon made this revelation during the proclamation rally of presidential aspirant VP Leni Robredo and vice-presidential aspirant Sen. Kiko Pangilinan on February 8.
Actress Nikki Valdez hosted the said event that was held at the Plaza Quezon in Naga. She introduced Gary as the “new Kakampinl”, based on the article in Interaksyon. The singer-songwriter was one of the celebrities who spoke during the rally.
Gary admitted that this is going to be the first time he is speaking about politics. In a video message, he said, “Alam ko na wala kayong nakikitang mga posts… wala kayong nakikitang iba’t ibang mga linalagay ko sa social media para maipakita ko kung sino ang iboboto ko sa darating na halalan.”
Pointing at his pink sweatshirt, Gary Valenciano said that people will immediately know who got his support. As a first-time voter, Mr. Pure Energy said that he is choosing the tandem of VP Leni Robredo and Se. Kiko Pangilinan.
“Ito ang magiging first time ko, first time to vote, ever. And I know I’m going to make the right vote kasi naniniwala talaga ako na si VP Leni Robredo ang dapat maging susunod na presidente ng Pilipinas. At si—bayaw ko—si Francis Kiko Pangilinan, ang dapat maging VP (vice president),” he said.
Gary shared that he was impressed by the charitable endeavors of VP Leni amid the pandemic while he stressed the consistency in the leadership of Sen. Pangilinan, who is his brother-in-law. Gary’s wife Angeli Pangilinan is the sister of the senator.
The fact that at 57 years old, it is the first time for Gary Valenciano to vote caught the attention of many netizens, just like netizen Anj Pessumal posted on Twitter who said, “Gary V is a first-time voter! It’s never too late to make your voice count.”
